The Ceremony of Sliding Doors

There seems to me to be a certain amount of ceremony and ritual inherent in the opening of a sliding door. It must be done slowly and mindfully. Because there are no “stops”, one must be aware of the butsudan’s symmetry. This heightened awareness of “the body” (My butsudans have legs, feet, belts, skirts, shoulders, chests, etc) helps us to better connect and attune ourselves with what lies inside.
